Mid Life Crisis or Best Decision I Ever Made

About me and why I am doing this:

Let me start by telling you a bit about myself. I am 43 years old, have worked in IT for over 20 years and love love love sport. Any sport, I’m not fussy! I`ve played in squash teams since I was 12, began a Ladies Football team in my early 20’s, coached squash, enjoy badminton and tennis and over the last 7 to 8 years developed a love for the gym. I can’t get enough of cardio, strength training, core training, you name it, I’ll give it a go.

Have you ever thought to yourself “I really wish I knew what I want to do when I grow up?” Now obviously I am grown up, well as grown up as a 43 year old can be who still feels like a twenty something (apart from the aches and ever increasing grey hairs!). My eureka moment occurred during the middle of 2017 when I was leaving the gym to go to work and I realised I wanted to stay and help the people In the gym, watch people improve, watch their journey, encourage people to use the gym.

Working in a sedentary job has, over the years, taken its toll, as have alcohol, chocolate and anything else that unless consumed in moderation can maybe, just maybe, have a negative effect on my health and fitness.

So during my light bulb moment I realised I wanted a job that didn’t feel too much like a job, I wanted a lifestyle that made me feel better about myself, allowed me to do what I enjoy and hopefully pass on that enjoyment and love of fitness to anyone that is prepared to listen.

Now for the How?

So how to put my plan into action. I enrolled on a course that will gain me my Gym Instructor Level 2 qualification and Personal Trainer Level 3 qualification. From there I hope to gain as much experience and I can and build my client base going forward.

And finally the When?

Therefore, if all goes to plan I should be fully qualified by the end of February 2018. (8 months after the initial thought popped into my head.)

The Blog

The idea of a blog was raised during my leaving drinks from my last job before starting this journey. It will hopefully help to promote me and my brand, it may simply interest people, if the creative juices are flowing it will at least amuse and if nothing else it will give other people the encouragement to make a change if that is what they dream of.

What I will be doing:

Once qualified, and fingers crossed I at least get through the next few weeks successfully, I will be posting my journey on here. What I eat, vital statistics, exercise regime, everything to see how my own personal journey progresses from weight lost, inches lost to personal bests in and out of the gym.

Next post will be following my theory and practical exams for Gym Instructor Level 2. First exams in more years than I care to admit...this should be fun!
